ACS grade meets or exceeds the purity specifications published by the American Chemical Society and ships with a lot-specific certificate of analysis. Reagent grade is chemically equivalent for most bench work but is not certified against the ACS monograph, so it costs less and is the better choice for cleaning, digestion and routine dilution.
