PYREX® desiccators have a rugged 24/29 Standard Taper external sleeves with tooled hose connections that serve as the stopcock. It is designed so that its manipulation is not affected by the vacuum. To introduce vacuum into the desiccator, loosen the stopcock to disengage the PTFE plug from contact with the glass. The open position is indicated by the molded arrow on the cap.¬†A half turn from this position closes the desiccator. This design eliminates the need for grease. D1180-3 requires only¬†a quarter turn from this position to close the desiccator. For ease in use and improved performance, it is recommended that the Standard Taper sleeve be lubricated with a silicone-based vacuum grease. The tubulation O.D. is approximately 10mm.
